Episode 29: TOTAL RECALL (2012)- Movie Review

Total Recall is directed by Len Wiseman and stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, and Bryan Cranston.
A factory worker, Douglas Quaid, begins to suspect that he is a spy after visiting Rekall - a company that provides its clients with implanted fake memories of a life they would like to have lead. The visit  goes wrong and finds himself on the run.
I was looking foward to Total Recall because coming from the trailers, it looked different from the original 1990 film. It also looked good because of the effects and action scenes which we'll get to later. I also think Colin Farrell is a good actor and knocked it out of the park in last year's Fright Night, which was also a remake. Luckily, Total Recall is another good remake with Colin Farrell in it except it isn't as good as the original. But it is safe to say that I had a lot of fun with this new Total Recall.
Colin Farrell was great as Douglas Quaid and he took his role very seriously. Kate Beckinsale was good as Lori who is Quaid's wife (I think ?) but I think she should get a little more used to playing a villian. Jessica Biel was also great as Melina but I think someone else could play her. Bryan Cranston was a very underdeveloped villian because he is in the first third for three minutes then makes his real debut in the last act of the movie. If you have seen the original movie,  then for the first half of this movie, you will most likely be predicting everything that will happen. There are some new twists and turns but for those of you who are complaining about a certain thing, that girl is in it. There are a few other throwbacks to the original movie that I won't say anything but two weeks.
This movie is rated PG-13 and really should be R because of the amount of action and I am suprised that they got away with for a PG-13; even with the one girl you guys know. The action scenes are great and so are the effects for the most part. Total Recall was pretty good even though it had a boring middle part and an underdeveloped villian which means Total Recall gets an 8/10 for now. I bet at the end of the year and when I thought about the movie more, it will be 7 or 7.5/10 but for now, 8/10. So, what were your thoughts on the new Total Recall? If you haven't seen it, then are you excited for it and what are your thoughts going into this movie? In the next week I'll be reviewing the Matt Damon Bourne Trilogy so stay tuned for that review!
