Episode 27: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES SPOILER DISCUSSION

So, if you didn't read the title, this will be a spoiler filled discussion about the Dark Knight Rises so if you haven't seen it, PLEASE don't read this. On Tuesday, I went to see The Dark Knight Rises for a second time in IMAX and felt like this needed to be written. First, I just want to talk about the IMAX theater because this was my first time watching a movie in IMAX. The biggest problem I had with this movie was Bane's voice and that you couldn't understand a third of what he said in a regular theater. When I saw it in IMAX,  I understood every word Bane said because of the perfect sound quality. So now I have no problems with the Dark Knight Rises.
Now let's get onto the spoilers. First, I am going to be talking about Miranda Tate who turns out to be the real villian and John Blake becoming the new hero of Gotham.
Last year there were rumors that Taila Al Ghul would be in The Dark Knight Rises and I was very interested. Then, a few months ago, I heard Marion Cotillard was playing Miranda Tate but I still thought it was Talia. When I was watching the movie, I believed the rumors weren't that true until the big reveal. I wasn't as suprised as the next big reveal but I did like it even though she was only on screen as Talia for ten minutes.
So, I'm pretty sure all of us expected someone to take over Bruce Wayne's Batman with Bane being the villian and all. I had no idea that he was going to become the "Robin" character and I love that they made his name (Robin) John  Blake. That was a clever twist and I really wish Joseph Gordon-Levitt had his own movie and became a Batman Beyond kind of character. I still give The Dark Knight Rises a 10/10 and is my favorite movie of the year by far. I also plan on reviewing Total Recall this coming Friday or Saturday, so look foward to that review! So what did you think of Marion Cotillard's and Joseph Gordon -Levitt's characters?

Episode 26: MAN OF STEEL TEASER TRAILER- Movie Trailer Review

Man of Steel is the upcoming Superman reboot directed by Zack Snyder and written by Christopher Nolan.

When this movie was first announced, I really didn't know what to think until pictures of the costume were released. At first, I disliked the costume because he didn't have the curl in the hair, he didn't have the red underwear, and I thought the suit was too scaly and the cape was too long. In February, they released a picture of Superman with a kid I guess he saved. That is when I got used to the suit and it started to grow on me.
At the end of this trailer, which is the best part for me, we see Superman fly up into the air, break the sound barrier, and it's awesome. The CGI looks great and from what I saw, Henry Cavil looks great as Clark Kent and Superman. Clark Kent has a beard in this trailer which reminds me of Batman Begins. That leads me to one question, How will he shave his beard if he has indesructable skin and hair? There were two official trailers released, one with a Kevin Costner voiceover (he is Superman's Earth dad) which is playing in theaters, and one with Russell Crowe who plays Jor-El. The one with Russell Crowe is the one I enjoyed much more becasue it felt more like Superman. Anyway, Man of Steel is my most anticipated movie of 2013 for now. I have to wait until an Iron Man 3 teaser comes out and if it changes my opinion. This trailer gets a 4.5/5 and now it's question time! What were your thoughts on this teaser trailer and do you like how they are making it dark like Batman Begins?

Episode 25: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES MOVIE REVIEW!!!

7/21/12-Note: When writing this, I had not yet known about the terrible shooting in Colorado, R.I.P. to the victims...

Since this is my 25th review and a quarter to a hundred, why not review one of the most anticipated movies of all time! I saw it and if this review is late, then it probably took me a while to process the awesomeness.
The Dark Knight Rises is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christain Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Marion Cotillard. Eight years after the events taken place in The Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne has stopped being Batman until a new evil, Bane arrives. Bruce Wayne must rise up and face Bane or the city of Gotham shall be destroyed.
Christopher Nolan is my favorite director of all time. Batman Begins is one of my favorite movies of all time. The Dark Knight is my favorite movie of all time. The Dark Knight Rises was my most anticipated movie of all time. This movie has a TON of hype behind it and it was better than I thought it would be. Christian Bale is the best he has ever been in this trilogy. People do make fun of the voice but in the third film, I am used to it and I like it. Tom Hardy as Bane was a great villian because of how menacing he was. If he had the Bane mask from the comics, then he wouldn't of been as menacing because you saw the emotion in his eyes. Gary Oldman was also great even though he wasn't in that many scenes. Micheal Caine is wonderful and has a very emotional scene at the end that I will admit made me tear up, then cry. Do I even need to say that Morgan Freeman was good? Anne Hathaway was great as Catwoman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt was good as Officer Blake.
This is honestly for me better than the Dark Knight, which makes this my favorite movie. The Dark Knight Rises is the best comic book movie I've ever seen because it made me so emotionally attached to the characters. You forget that Batman is a superhero and you just see these characters as ordinary people. I cried at the end of this movie. I am going to give The Dark Knight Rises a very serious 20/10. For the next paragraph of this review, I will be talking spoilers so make sure you see this movie. Now I am going to try something new and ask you guys a question. If you were to direct a Batman movie, who would you cast as Batman and the villian? Comment your answer if you want and now onto the spoilers

**SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEE BATMAN, PLEASE!**

PLEASE DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE DARK KNIGHT RISES!!!!!! At the end of the movie, we think that Batman died in the atomic bomb blast. In this scene, Alfred is talking to the graves of Bruce Wayne's parents and he gives an emotional speech. This is honestly one of the best preformances I've seen an actor give because when Michael Caine said those words, I teared up. Then we see a statue or memorial of Batman which started to make me cry. We then learn that Joseph Gordan-Levitt's character's name is Robin and he finds the Batcave which made me smile. That last thing we see is Alfred at a resturaunt seeing Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. That made me cry and smile which was awesome. The Dark Knight Rises is my favorite movie of this year by far, my favorite comic book movie, and it might even be my favorite movie of all time. I also got to see the teaser trailer for Man of Steel which I'll review once it is released online.

Episode 24: MOONRISE KINGDOM- Movie Review

Moonrise Kingdom is directed by Wes Anderson and stars Jared Gilman, Kara Hayward, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, and Bill Murray. In Moonrise Kingdom, a pair of young lovers flee their New England town,  which causes a search party to fan out and find them. I was pleasantly suprised by Moonrise Kingdom because of the acting. The two main leads are in their first film and they killed it. The boy, Jared Gilman was really good and the girl, Kara Hayward was also. Bruce Willis gave what was  probably my favorite performance in the movie. Bill Murray and Edward Norton were fantastic too. This movie is also very hilarious. There are some scenes that had me laughing like crazy.
This movie is in limited release but if you have a chance to see it, you should because this is a great movie. However, there is one small problem that I had with Moonrise Kingdom. During the movie, you keep hearing about an upcoming storm and by the time the storm occurs, there are too many things going on. At the end, it get's a little hectic and it keeps cutting to different stories. Overall, I am going to give Moonrise Kingdom a 9/10.

Episode 23: ICE AGE 4 CONTINENTAL DRIFT- Movie Review

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift is directed by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier and has the voice talents of Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, and Peter Dinklage.

Manny, Sid, and Diego are seperated from Manny's wife and daughter due to a continental drift. The trio encounters a pirate crew while trying to get home and are on an adventure. I always thought that the Ice Age movies were just okay except for the first one. The first Ice Age was a pretty good movie. I completely forgot Ice Age 2: The Meltdown and Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs was okay. Now we get on to Ice Age 4: Continental Drift which is the point of this review. I thought Ice Age 4 was a great fun family film.

Ray Romano is pretty good as Manny and Queen Latifa plays the wife and she is just as good. Denis Leary was probably one of my favorite parts of this movie because he had some funny lines. John Leguizamo got more annoying than in the third one but he is still funny. You also have some supporting voices such as Wanda Sykes as Sid's grandmother who I thought had some of the funniest lines in the movie. However, my favorite character in the whole movie is Scrat, who is always going on adventures to find these acorns and something hilarious always ensues.
The villian in this movie is played by Peter Dinklage and I didn't think that he was the right voice for this pirate villian. I think maybe Ian McShane or someone else should have been brought in  to play him. Another problem that I had with Ice Age 4 was a side story about Manny's daughter trying to fit in with the "cool" mammoths. That felt really stupid. That story also involved Nicki Manaj who voiced one of the teenage mammoths and she has such an unbearable voice to listen to. I was so happy that her character had only around four to six lines. This is the kind of movie that you should take your family to see. Kids will love it and adults might like it, too. If adults don't like this movie, think about how awesome The Dark Knight Rises will be. I am going to give Ice Age 4: Continental Drift an 8/10. This week, I'll be reviewing The Dark Knight and the MUCH anticipated Dark Knight Rises so stay tuned to those reviews.

Episode 22: JOHN CARTER- Movie Review

Phantom Menace + Attack of the Clones + Avatar = John Carter

John Carter is directed by Andrew Stanton, who is making his live action directing debut. It stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, and Mark Strong. John Carter, a Civil War veteran,  is transported to Mars and encounters a princess that must get married or else a war will occur. She of course, doesn't want this marrige so John Carter decides to help her only if she returns him to Earth.
I didn't see John Carter in theaters due to a large amount of negative reviews. But I had the chance to see it on DVD and I decided to give it a shot. I thought John Carter was a fun movie but it is in no way a great movie and it has some large problems. I'll get to the problems first so let us start with the acting. I respect Taylor Kitsch because most of the movie was him talking to a green screen. Most of the acting is mediocre but is good for this kind of movie except for one actress, Lynn Collins. She was terrible in this movie because some of her line deliveries were just awful.
Also, the third act of the film was extremely boring and it felt very stretched. The movie could have ended at least twice. The first twenty minutes of this movie wasn't very good and it only got good once he  got on Mars. The relationship between John Carter and the princess was very stale and had no believable chemistry. It felt very similar to the relationship between Padme and Anakin in Attack of the Clones.
Now let's get onto the good things that are in this movie. The visual effects aren't half bad;  like the aliens. The aliens look good and have great voice acting. There is also a good amount of action and great visual effects. There isn't much else to say about John Carter and I'm going to give it a 6.5/10.

Episode 21: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN- Movie Review

Thank God I saw Spider-Man rather than Katty Perry's 3D Concert. Then again, I could imagine the horror of my mom dragging me to see it.
Anyway, I am going to start a new format of reviews similar to the format of my Snow White & the Huntsman. So let's get started! The Amazing Spider-Man is directed by Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Rhys Ifans. Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man must solve the mystery behind his parents' disappearance. He meets Dr. Curt Connors who conducts an experiment that goes horribly wrong and turns himself into a gigantic humaniod lizard that soon wreaks havoc on New York. Spider-Man must then face the Lizard and stop Connors'  destruction.
So if you haven't seen my review for the third trailer of this movie, I stated that I was thinking that this movie would be great. Now that I've seen the movie, I am going to talk about the direction. Marc Webb is the director of 500 Days of Summer and that made me think that he would kill it at directing the dramatic scenes but not that good in the action sequences. In a Spider-Man movie, you should have a director who can direct action. Wow, I was wrong because the action in this movie was awesome. This whole movie was awesome. Andrew Garfield was awesome as Peter Parker and in my opinion, he was a better Spider-man  than Tobey Maguire. This Spider-Man was funny, sarcastic, and could take dramatic issues very well. He also had a great relationship with Emma Stone who plays Gwen Stacy. I also thought that Rhys Ifans was great as Dr. Connors. The CGI for the Lizard was very good, also.
What I love most about this movie is that the movie is very faithful to the comic books and television shows. Spider-Man was funny and sarcastic. Peter Parker built the webshooters. Gwen Stacy was even in the comics before Mary Jane like in this movie. It reminded me most of the T.V. series, The Spectacular Spider-Man. One more thing that I'll say about this movie before I talk about the 3D is  don't leave the theater until the credits finish. I saw this movie in 3D and for the first two acts, there isn't much use of the 3D, which disappointed me. Then, the third act happened and there was some really cool 3D tricks. I'd say that if you are going to see this movie, you should pay to see it in 3D. Anyway, I love this movie and it is my second favorite movie of the summer and year. I am going to give The Amazing Spider-Man a perfect score of 10/10.
